Great turn out of moultoneers at the West Barn Bradford on Avon to present Alex Moulton with the club's birthday gift

Many moultoneers travelled to Bradford on Avon for a  social ride along the canal towpath and then to meet Alex at the West Barn at midday where Aynsley Brown presented Alex Moulton with the club's gift. Some arrived on Saturday 24th and met up at the Riverside Tavern in the evening. There was a great atmosphere the whole town seemed to be buzzing with excitement. There was a live band playing at the pub and plenty Ale supped in the beer garden along with whitty banter.
After a hearty breakfast at the Tavern, we all met at the canal for a short ride along the canal lead by Craig Elliott with a splinter group doing  a longer ride along the road. At the tea stop one of the star attractions was Tony Hadland on his Moulton Speed with pink accessories. After tea and cakes Craig went ahead to prepare the gift, Arthur Smith lead the ride back to the West Barn. Unfortunately on the way Arthur had a coming together with a local cat along the canal path and came down hard. Several first aiders came to his aid and the ride carried on, Arthur limped back accompanied by the first aiders. We all wish Arthur a speedy recovery from his injuries.
There looked to be well over a hundred admirers gathered in and around the West Barn. Aynsley Brown gave a short speech and presented Alex with the club gift a hand made glass plaque with the image of Alex and an etched AM90 logo. Then William Poole presented Alex with a DVD after travelling all the way from Bergen, Norway especially for the occasion. Notable visitors included TV journalist Roger Cook and Jem Marsh designer of the Marcos cars.
There was great display in the West Barn of Alex's work and the special AM60 bike, a gift to Alex from the Moulton Bicycle Company which drew the greatest attention. I particularly enjoyed seeing the early scooter shaped prototype models on display. Many visitors picked up a copy of Alex Moultons 'A lifetime in Engineering' which was on sale in the museum.
I also enjoyed visiting the marcos cars on display at several locations in the town and chatting to their owners. Photo's courtesy of Clive Tasker from link below. Also a link to the Wiltshire Times coverage of the event.
